At Moor Row School we teach music primarily through Charanga English Model Music Scheme which allows us, through the effective teaching and learning of the knowledge, skills and understanding in music, to maintain and stimulate pupil curiosity, interest and enjoyment.

At Moor Row School we aim to:

  • Perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of the great composers and musicians;
  • Learn to sing and to use their voices, to create and compose music on their own and with others, have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, use technology appropriately and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence;
  • Understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the interrelated dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations.
  • During Key Stage 1 children have the opportunity to take part in Big Sing and in Key Stage 2 to be take part in Young Voices.

    Each week we have a singing assembly and children are given the chance to perform during school performances.

    At Moor Row Primary School, music is fun. It is used to promote excellence and enjoyment. It has a strong presence in the ethos of the school through assemblies, performances and productions

    The school achieved the Music Mark in October 2022
